This subwoofer package includes the Kicker 8 inch subwoofer, the subwoofer mounting bracket, and the subwoofer wiring to make installation plug and play. While this subwoofer upgrade package won’t rattle the windshield in your car it does provide better bass response than the factory subwoofer. If your factory subwoofer is blown the difference in bass output will be extreme. If you are looking to get the most out of this subwoofer upgrade we also recommend upgrading the amplifier that powers this subwoofer. You can save your self some money by installing this subwoofer yourself following the guides below. If you want to have this subwoofer installed professionally it is about 2 hours of installation time on the Acuras mentioned above.
When replacing your factory subwoofer there are three main specifications your new must subwoofer must meet. One is that it must be a free air subwoofer as the factory subwoofer is not fully enclosed. The second is that it must be 8 inches and not exceed 6 inches in depth so that it may fit in the factory location. The last specification is that its final impedance must be two ohms to not cause any issues with the factory amplifier. This Kicker subwoofer meets all of those specifications and fits into the factory location with the use of our adapter bracket. The kicker subwoofer also has a flat surround which stops it from rubbing against the rear deck.
In order to achieve the best bass output we recommend applying sound treatment to the rear deck and the rear deck cover. This sound treatment is to minimize rattle and increase acoustical output to your ears. The sound treatment is an additional purchase. We offer some options you can check them out here.
To install the subwoofer upgrade you will need to remove the rear seats if they do not fold down. You will then need to remove the C-Pillar covers, and the rear deck cover. The tools you will need include a ratchet, ratchet extensions, a 10mm socket, a panel removal tool, a clip removal tool and a towel or blanket to protect parts of your interior. If you are completing the install your self and its the first time removing the rear seats, we suggest setting aside 2-4 hours to complete the installation. Our accessories allow you to retain the factory steering wheel controls excluding the call control buttons. These buttons include volume up, volume down, mode, next track and previous track. The other buttons can be retained but require modifications to the steering wheel wiring and manual programming which result in an installation that is not plug and play.
If you want a plug and play installation then only the buttons referenced above will auto program. When replacing the factory radio with an aftermarket stereo you will also lose the center channel audio. Although you lose the center channel when upgrading the stereo, the new stereo will allow the factory system to be much louder and have better bass response.
The components in our kits allow you to keep the factory subwoofer of your Acura functioning with the factory radio as well. There is a SUB RCA that you will connect to the aftermarket radios SUB output and that will keep your factory subwoofer functioning. If you would like to add aftermarket subwoofers to your Acura you can do so with our harness/kit as well. You will just need to split the RCA to send signal to the factory sub and the other subwoofer or you can disconnect the factory sub.
Lastly, If you have factory navigation and it is working then our harness will allow it to keep working with the aftermarket radio. The touchscreen will respond and you will be able to look at the map but you will loose any audible warnings such as turn by turn directions. The factory backup camera if equipped will still work. You will also lose the factory HFL or bluetooth hands free but this feature is found in your new radio so it is unneeded. If your factory navigation is not working you can still replace the radio without an issue. If you want to place an aftermarket radio where the factory navigation screen goes, this can be done but you will need to make permanent modifications to your vehicle. We don’t recommend or support replacing the factory navigation with another radio, this includes the tesla style radio.
As for radio selection you can use any radio that has six RCA ports on the back for audio (3 pairs) and also offers a steering wheel control input. Many amazon/eBay non branded radio will not work either because they don’t have the correct inputs/outputs or because they will not fit correctly in the dash kit. When replacing the radio the part that is replaced is where you adjust the volume. So the two knobs are replaced with an opening for a standard double din radio. This opening can accommodate a standard single din radio and a pocket or a double din radio. The bigger double din radios will not fit. Other radios may fit incorrectly and leave a gap we recommend using a name brand radio from sony, kenwood, jvc, boss, pioneer, or jensen to ensure you have the best installation experience.
If when upgrading your radio you want to install a backup camera this is also a possibility and universal backup camera can be installed. It will just require you run wires from the rear of the vehicle to the front. Almost all backup cameras are compatible with our accessories. When replacing the rear speakers in your Acura TL most speakers require the need to create new holes in the rear deck metal. The limited spacing back there makes drilling the new holes almost impossible. These adapters screw into the factory screw hole locations and provide you with new mounting holes for 6.5 aftermarket speakers. This adapter simplifies the install and when paired with our harness adapter makes upgrading the rear speakers in your TL simple and fast. This listing is for two spacers, two harnesses and all the necessary screws.
If you are thinking about adding a backup camera to your Acura this camera installs with ease. By replacing the license plate light housing with the housing provided with the camera you are able to install the backup camera without having to drill any new holes and the final installation looks OEM.
This camera comes in two options with fixed parking lines or with active parking lines. If you are going to be using the parking line adjustments on your radio we recommend you get the fixed parking line version and then disable them. You can view the difference in the parking lines in the images.
There are two ways to install this camera. You can set it up to always be on so you can hit the camera button on your radio and view it at anytime or have the power only power on when you are in reverse. The reverse only installation is easier to complete.

This plug and play 4 channel amp will power the door speakers and rear deck speakers only. By installing this amplifier you will lose the center channel and subwoofer. This amplifier is recommend to those who are already running aftermarket subwoofers or a dedicated subwoofer amp but want the speakers in the doors to be louder. This is a plug and play upgrade that will fit right into the factory location. This amplifier can be used with the factory radio or an aftermarket radio.
This upgrade can be used with factory speakers or aftermarket speakers the power ratings are as follows. This upgrade is plug and play so it doesn’t require any new power or ground lines. These are the amp ratings.
This package is already wired and preconfigured so all you have to do is plug it in. If you are not using the factory radio and you did not install an aftermarket radio with our accessories you must feed the amp a low level signal so if you don’t your amp will blow. If you are using the factory radio you do not have to worry.
If you feel that this package does not have enough power you can use our bypass kit to install your own amplifier easily. Please keep in mind that if you are going to power each speaker with more than 100 watts RMS then we recommend running new speaker wires and suggest you do not use our amp bypass.
Are you looking to replace the free air subwoofer in your Acura TL? The Acura TLs premium sound systems include an 8 inch free air subwoofer on the rear deck. This subwoofer mounts with 4 ears which means a traditional subwoofer will not mount correctly without you either making an adapter or drilling into metal on a weird angle. Our adapter makes it easier to mount your new subwoofer in the factory location.
We also include the speaker harness connector so you don’t have to cut any wires when you replace the sub you can just plug the new sub in. The speaker adapter varies from model to model so please include the year and model of your Acura in the billing notes when you go to checkout.
